Athens: Roman history always fascinates me and Greece is one of the few countries where you will find many famous Roman ruins. One of the most popular ruins is Parthenon, which is situated on top of Acropolis in Athens and is just a gorgeous piece of architecture; btw Acropolis museum is a must visit. Among the many temples, the biggest one is Temple of Goddess Athena. We made a short one day trip to Athens, since there is nothing much to see except the Roman ruins. Next day, we took a flight to one of the most exotic places on earth, Santorini.
Santorini, also known as Thira, is described as the city of most magnificent beaches with blue crystal clear water and gorgeous black volcanic mountains. I wanted a relaxing vacation and a beach getaway was just perfect. We stayed in the gorgeous town of Oia, where the entire Santorini comes to see the breathtaking sunset views. You can also walk around in a hip town of Fira. One of my beach recommendations would be Kamari beach, it is 10 km south east of Fira. There are couple of other beaches on the same coast line but this is suppose to be the best. There are a lot of beach shacks there, you can also rent snorkel gear, swimming shoes, beach umbrella, chairs, and since most of the beaches are pebble beach, you would need to rent or buy swimming shoes. You can also take a ferry to Mykonos and other islands in Mediterranean. We only did Athens and Santorini due to time restriction, but if you love beaches and want to get tan, this is truly the place for you.
Next on my list in Greece would be Mykonos, Voutoumi Bay on Anti-Paxos, Lefkada, Kefalonia, and Zakynthos.
Weather: In terms of weather, second week of September was extremely HOT to walk around the city, but the beaches and evenings were pleasant. I was nicely tanned and baked by the time I got back in New York.

Tips: Wear a pair of sneakers or Toms or any other comfortable shoes as the ground is very uneven due to restoration and it is a 10 minutes hike to reach to the top of Acropolis.
Greek people are extremely nice and polite. Greek food is one of the most healthy cuisines.
Keep: A pair of bathing suit for each day and a cover up to go with it. A hat to protect your face during the day and nice flowy dresses for the evenings. Sunscreen is must before getting in to the water and sun, you don’t want UV rays to damage your skin.
Must eat: Greek salad and Octopus
