Travel Fashion Girl help! A reader asks:
My issue is finding women’s wide/extra-wide sizes without having to resort to ugly orthopedic style shoes. I’ve searched high and low and have even tried men’s shoes. While they have the extra width, they don’t fit right. I always end up with my clunky New Balance sneakers, which are definitely not stylish, but at least tolerable. Any ideas for my dilemma?
There’s nothing worse than uncomfortable shoes, especially when you’re traveling. Some shoes fit narrower, or brands don’t offer wide widths. So what’s a female traveler to do when she wants to look stylish and feel comfortable?

Cute Flats for Wide Feet: Lucky Brand Emmie
Lucky Brand is a fun choice when it comes to cute shoes for wide feet. It offers wide width shoes in a variety of styles and types of shoes. One reader says, “I was a little nervous to order shoes online, but these flats are amazing! They fit right out of the box with no pinching or tugging. I usually wear a women’s size 10 – 10 1/2 wide (I have big, flat feet) so I sized up to 11 wide just in case because I like to have toe room. They couldn’t have fit more perfectly if I had gone shopping and tried them on first. They’re not too snug across the toes, they have a nice firm sole, and they have just a little padding on the inside so it doesn’t feel like you’re walking on hard ground with bare feet. 12/10 would recommend and will definitely be buying some more. ”
They’re also inexpensive and in cute styles, like this darling ballerina flat, making it one of the best wide shoes for travel. You can stock up on several pairs for your travels without breaking the bank.

thank you for putting something out for those of us with wide feet (and in my case high insteps. Looking at the Sketchers right now. Love that this is a variety of shoes (sandals, closed toe, etc). Keep up the great work~
Do they make sneakers shoes sandals for gals who have bunions, wide feet , and hammer toe too? I have one foot with an arch and one foot that has no arch. Not to mention issues with my knees!
Would any of these sneakers work for you?

Thank you for all the wide shoe selections. I love my Birkenstocks for running errands, but find they are not comfortable for all the walking we do on vacation. My go-to wide sandals are my Chacos— firm enough to handle cobblestone streets, but enough cushion for comfort.
Bella-Vita makes great wide width quality low boots & shoes up to 2EE . I have several pairs in different styles that have taken many miles and still look well. They also have wider calf tall boots and several lines are made in Italy. They go on sale regularly.
Dr. Scholl’s ballet flats in wide are also a great go to and take up very little space. I also usually carry a pair of waterproof flats from Melissa B which spread and have been a lifesaver in very wet winter European travels.
Hi Kelley, thank you for sharing all your excellent recommendations for wide feet! Love reading about our readers favorite brands for purchasing comfy shoes. Happy travels! ?

Hi, will be checking out your suggested shoe options for wide feet. Any suggestions for a women’s 9-1/2 7E source? In my next life I will be 2 inches taller and will have size 8 B width.
Hi Marcia, thanks for your question! We’ll share your question here so the author of the article can reply. 🙂
I’m usually a Birkenstock girl – but recently I’ve discovered Propét shoes and boots, and I’m totally sold. Lots of options, widths up to 4E. I’ve found that Amazon has a large selection, and now that “wardrobe” lets you get several sent, try them on, and only keep (and pay for) the ones you like, it’s a great option.
Hi, thank you for sharing your recommendation of Proper shoes, they sound fantastic!! Love the sound of Amazon letting you get several sent to you and then you keep only the ones you like!! 🙂
Nice to see an article on wide shoes. My go to store for wide shoes has always been Easy Spirit, but they have gone out of business. Thanks for giving me some new options.
Hi Penny, thank you so much for your lovely comment, so pleased you found the article useful!! 🙂
Really surprised Skechers isn’t on this list. So many of their shoes fit me, whereas I struggle to find a comfortable fit with other brands for my wide feet.
Hi Addison, thank you for sharing your recommendation for comfortable travel shoes! 🙂
I am searching like hell to find cute waterproof sandals like the ipanema charms, I would like to use them as Flip-flops but also as a dressier sandal in the city. I have one big problem, I have size US12 or EU43. Until now I only found non-waterproof sandals in my size like the Vionics or Toms.
Could you do some research about travel shoes in different categories for women with size 12 and up? It is really a big problem, you could wake up the shoe companies about this problem. I live in the Netherlands and love your blog! Keep up the good work!
Hi Esther, thank you for your comment, glad you enjoy the blog!! I have posted your question on our Facebook Page, our readers have the best tips, so keep an eye out for their replies from Wednesday. https://www.facebook.com/TravelFashionGirl/ I will look into it for you. Hope that helps! 🙂

I have some and they are quite nice at an affordable price point! I’ll have to check out some of your other brand recs!
